At Marlow White, we believe every detail of a military uniform should reflect pride, precision, and tradition—including the shoes.
Over the past several years, we have refined every detail of our Army Green Service Uniforms and are proud of the product we offer. However, we recognized that the dress shoe market lacked a premium, American-made option for Soldiers that demand the highest standard of footwear. We set out to find a partner who could help us develop an AGSU low quarter to meet this demand.
That search led us to Allen Edmonds.
Founded in 1922 and known for handcrafted footwear made in Port Washington, Wisconsin, Allen Edmonds produced shoes for the U.S. Army and Navy during World War II. Their legacy of American craftsmanship and commitment to excellence aligns naturally with ours.
Together, we developed the Marlow White by Allen Edmonds Legacy Shoe - a high-quality, hand-crafted dress shoe that complements the polish and professionalism of a Marlow White uniform. These shoes deliver the superior construction and long-term durability that Allen Edmonds is known for. They are built to serve as long as you do with welts and soles carefully sewn around the full circumference of the uppers, ensuring durability and enabling recrafting when needed. The uppers and linings are cut from full-grain cowhides selected for color consistency while retaining the unique character of a natural material.

AGSU Neck Tab – Clearing Up the Confusion
In September 2025, the Army published Army Directive 2025-18, which codified several interim updates to AR 670-1 and DA PAM 670-1. Among these updates was an authorization to wear a neck tab with the AGSU.
The official guidance for wear of the AGSU neck tab is found in paragraph 1g of Enclosure 2 to Army Directive 2025-18 and states:
AGSU Neck Tab. The heritage green service neck tab is an optional purchase item. The neck tab is worn with the AGSU Class A uniform and with the short- and long-sleeved, as well as tucked-in or overblouse-style service shirts. The neck tab is required for wear when the long-sleeved shirt is worn without the AGSU Class A coat. It is also required for wear when the short- and long-sleeved shirts are worn with the AGSU Class A coat. The neck tab is optional when the short-sleeved shirt is worn with the AGSU Class B uniform.
The neck tab wraps around the neck under the collar of the female short- and long-sleeved, as well as tucked-in or overblouse-style shirts, and fastens to itself with a hook-and-loop fastener. The neck tab design is one of overlapping tabs forming an angle.
This guidance has caused some confusion among our team and customers, so we want to clarify a few key points.
First, the heritage green service neck tab is an optional purchase item. All enlisted Soldiers, male and female, are issued the standard four-in-hand necktie in their clothing bag.
Second, per AR 670-1 paragraph 2-8d, “Commanders will not require individuals to purchase optional uniform items.” This means all Soldiers may wear the four-in-hand necktie whenever a necktie is required.
Third, the same regulation states commanders “will not restrict or discourage [Soldiers] from wearing optional uniform items… except where uniformity is required, such as parades or formations.” This means female Soldiers are authorized to purchase and wear the heritage green neck tab in lieu of the four-in-hand necktie unless otherwise directed.
We recommend that those who choose to purchase the optional neck tab also keep a necktie on hand for situations where uniformity is required.
