Is the blade on this letter opener etched in the same pattern as the full size sword? On one or both sides?

Letter opener blades are acid etched with the same design as the full-size ceremonial sword. Both sides of the letter opener blade are acid etched.

Good question! The etching goes on a small metal plate that is mounted on the stand.

There is an optional $10 Laser Etch for any of the letter openers, however
it will not be on the opener itself. The etch will be on a metal plate attached
to the letter opener stand.
