Marlow White's swords and sabers have ceremonial blades. As such, they are built to strict military regulations to be used in drills, ceremonies, and displays. These blades are of the highest quality but are not sharpened for use as a weapon.
Etching Blades
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase of a sword or saber from us. By primarily selling swords and sabers online, and by using reasonable margins, we are able to sell at extremely good prices. However, we do realize that the internet and "distance" can make your purchase process a bit harder, which is why we display such large, detailed images of our swords/sabers, and why we also provide resources and information on wear, accessories, background FAQ's, and buying guides.
One service that is difficult to offer over the internet is custom inscriptions, yet it is a service which we are pleased to offer.
There are two primary methods available for inscribing sword blades. Engraving uses a mechanical cutting tool to inscribe the metal. Etching uses either a laser or an acid to alter the surface of the blade with the inscription.
We believe laser etching is the superior process. Laser etching more closely matches the look of the acid-etched designs already on most blades. In addition, laser etching is less affected by bevels; the letters are clear and crisp. Visit our Laser Sword Etching page for more information.
In order to be able to offer such a custom service over the web, we took new photos of all the different swords that can be etched, clearly showing standard etch location, and, when applicable, we also showed 180 degree rotated etch placement. We are able to offer three fonts for etching (samples are available on our etch page).
Should you desire to engrave your sword mechanically, Marlow White does not offer this service. We suggest you take your blade to a local jeweler whom you trust. Our general observation is that jewelers tend to stand behind their work and are more adept at engraving on curved and beveled surfaces.
Some people choose to have their sword/saber engraved at a trophy shop. Using a trophy shop is an option if you have had good experience with the trophy shop in the past and know that they will stand by their work.
Wherever you choose to take your sword/saber, please make sure the engraver is insured and will fully guarantee their work.
