Sword Worn by the USAF Officer

Does an Air Force officer wear the US Air Force Sword or the Army Officer Saber? The current uniform regulation does not outline the sword/saber wear. However, we have seen the following:

History & Tradition: : : Archived manuals portrayed Air Force officers wearing an Army saber because of the Army Air Corps roots. But again, the current uniform regulation does not have a sword/saber section. For formal organizational functions, you may want to check with your chain of command prior to an event requiring sword and saber usage.

Base Honor Guards: The US Air Force Honor Guard from Bolling AFB has an USAF Honor Guard Training Manual containing a sword and saber section. This is a great training guide designed specifically for Ceremonial Guardsmen, but it is also the only current USAF regulation covering any type sword usage. For Base Honor Guards, the manual has officers using Army sabers and enlisted using the Air Force sword.
