Army Male Junior Enlisted Service
&
Dress Blue Uniform Center
Marlow White has set up this page as a resource for Jr. Enlisted Soldiers in the U.S. Army who are looking for information pertaining to the Army Service (Class A) & Dress Blue Uniform. It is meant to summarize applicable Army Uniform Regulations, but please note that as of DEC 2007, the Army has NOT published a change to AR 670-1. We will show any interim-change items in red. Should any of you receive notice that the change to AR 670-1 has been published, please let us know.
Dress Blue Uniform Change Update (6 Mar 08): GEN Casey has commented recently that an announcement concerning the Dress Blue Uniform Change is likely to occur early this summer. Our guess is that such an announcement would be on June 14 (Army's Birthday) as previous major uniform changes have been announced on that date. Currently, the "Class A" version of the Dress Blue is not implemented and the Class A Green Uniform is still in effect. Marlow White is NOT a member of the Army Uniform Board; however, the industry's expectations are that the Army's Dress uniform will become a variation of the current Dress Blue Uniform.
We recognize that our Soldier-Clients will want to make wise purchasing decisions ahead of the pending uniform change. One of our roles at Marlow White is to function as an information center for our Soldier-Clients.
This page is divided into the following sections:
Occasion for Wear (describes when to wear the Army Service [pending] & Dress Blue Uniforms)
The beret is notcurrently authorized for wear with the Dress Blue, but we anticipate that the updated AR 670-1 will require it. See section at left about the Dress Blue Cap.
Items which can be required by the Local Commander. Unless required or prohibited by the Local Commander, the items are considered optional and can be worn at the discretion of the individual.
The Service Dress Blue Uniform [pending] can be worn on more formal occasions with different accessories.
When worn with a white shirt and black bow tie the Service Blue Uniform becomes the Dress Blue Uniform. When worn with the gray uniform shirt, we expect the Service Dress Blue uniform will be worn as Class B's (coat off) or Class A's (coat on).
Dress Blue Uniform
Worn for official formal evening functions when civilians normally wear evening clothes (black tie or tuxedo). Note that the service cap is optional wear after retreat.
